Team Dimension Data

The beginning

The South African based Team Dimension Data is a well known UCI World Tour Team

Founded in 2007 the quest for being Africas first Professional Continental Team was the mission. The team got its approval from UCI to be a Professional Continental Team in 2013 and got their first major win the same year winning one of cyclings five monuments, Milano - Sanremo.

In 2014 the team announced that they had partnered up with Cervélo bikes and they counted on the Canadian brand to deliver top performance frames, especially the S5 frame which is the frame used by Team Dimension Data in 2017/2018. For the 2018 season, they also partnered up with Oakley to supply helmets and cycling clothing.

On the 14th of January, the team yet again realised a big dream by being one of the 22 teams to compete in the biggest cycling event in cycling, Tour de France, and also making history as being the first African team to fight for the yellow jersey. Steve Cummings brought the team the first win on stage 14 on Mandela Day and history being made when Daniel Teklehaimanot spent 4 days in the Polka-dot jersey becoming the first Eritrean and African to wear it.

From there the team kept on putting their mark on the sport with yet another stage win in the Vuelta a España, where Kristian Sbaragli won a bunch sprint.

Signing with Cavendish

By 2015 the team announced that Mark Cavendish and his lead-out man Mark Renshaw would sign the team roster for the 2016 season. Together with Rolf Aldag as the Performance Manager and the Roger Hammond as Sports Director the team was set for the UCI World Tour licence for the 2016 season, and another milestone for the team was fulfilled being the first African team to enter cyclings top division.

The rooster for the 2019 season consists of world-class riders such as Mark Cavendish, Edvald Boasson Hagen, Roman Kreuziger, Steve Cummings and not to forget the two Danish riders Michael Valgren and Lars Bak.

We expect to see Team Dimension Data being in the front of the peloton during this season!

The Cervélo bikes

Team Dimension Data trust these bikes to make the riders as fast as possible, and that's why they have chosen Cervélo as their bike supplier for 4 years. The S5, R5, and P5 have helped the team reach incredible results.

The S5 frame combined with equipment from Shimano Dura Ace and Enve components makes sure that the bike is ready to compete at the highest level. However the team does not only use Cervélo S5 as their main bike, but they also have the P5 as their Time Trail bike and the R5 as their lightweight bike. These bikes come stocked with Enve equipment, Shimano Dura Ace and Rotor cranks.

It is however not only the bikes there is top of the line as Team Dimension Data partnered up with the legendary sunglass brand, Oakley, to deliver them some of the best cycling clothing and helmets. The team can choose between the ARO 3, ARO 5 and ARO 7. The ARO 3 is a lightweight and well-ventilated helmets which offers sublime ventilation when riding in hot weather. The ARO 5 is an aerodynamic helmet where saving watts is the main focus. However, the helmet also has excellent ventilation so it can be used in hot weather as well. ARO 7 is the Timetrail helmet where only saving watts and being as fast as possible was the focus when developing these helmets. All of the helmets come with MIPS technology and BOA 360 degree fit system to ensure an ultimate fit and comfort when worn.
