Eddy Merckx racing bikes have a very special DNA

These unique racing bikes originate from the most unique cyclist of all time: Eddy Merckx. His 525 wins, his personality, his endurance, his authenticity and his generosity. All these elements define the absolutely extraordinary in an Eddy Merckx racing bike. Each bike has his name on it, which is truly unique. In addition, each model tells his own story, which is linked to a special victory for him.

Cycling legend Eddy Merckx has created his own brand

Since the 1970s, Eddy Merckx has provided the name for the iconic frames that have been found in several major races over time, and which were ridden by some of the biggest stars in the cycling world.

The cycling legend opened his own production of the bikes in 1980, but already in the 1970s well-known brands such as Masi, Colnago and De Rosa produced bikes that had Merckx's own name on the bike. The particular figure who inspired Merckx to create the modern racing bicycle was Ugo De Rosa, creator of the De Rosa bicycles.

A modern design on the new racing bikes

This unique brand deserves a prominent logo and recognizable symbol. Therefore, the new Eddy Merckx logo gives a modern distinctive character that respects the past as well as Merckx's colorful history and cycling career. The logo shows Eddy Merckx's open approach to the future, as well as a Belgian designer statement that: 'Less is more'. The bikes are discreet and modest, but at the same time have a unique and sharply prominent design. It is the perfect depiction of Merckx's personality.

Models of Eddy Merckx bicycles

  • Eddy Merckx 525
  • Eddy Merckx Dean

Eddy Merckx 525

Eddy Merckx 525 is named after his 525 victories. The frame itself is a 525 carbon frame that has an eye-catching curved design with angled shapes. It replaces the previous top frame, the EMX 7, by being the stiffest and most aerodynamic model to date. It has mechanical brakes, in the form of brake pads, which provide a delightfully pleasant braking. The Eddy Merckx 525 model is a stable, solid, no-nonsense racing bike that can ride both on flat country roads and up the highest mountains.

Eddy Merckx Dean

Eddy Merckx Dean is a single-start bike. The reason for the name, Dean, is that the frame is the same as a Ridley Dean. The only thing it has in common with the Ridley bike is the frame, the gear group, crankset, tires, front fork, and more are different. It is also a solid aerodynamically and design-wise, nice bike.

Gear groups on the Merckx bikes

Gearing is a crucial detail on any modern racing bike. Our Eddy Merckx bikes have particularly good gear groups that are all electronic gear groups. These include:

  • Campagnolo record EPS
  • Shimano Ultegra R8000

Since they are electronic gear groups, you must first charge them before you can use them. In addition, you can also connect them to bluetooth, so you can measure how you change gear and how efficiently you do it. This means that you can develop your driving style depending on which wheels you have on - and whether you drive on flat country roads or in mountainous terrain.

Rotor crank set on the bikes

On all Eddy Merckx bikes, the crankset is a Rotor crankset. A Rotor crank set is an optimal solution for those who want Spanish innovation down to the smallest detail. They are streamlined, dynamic, durable and super solid. This means that the durability is top notch, so you can cycle on the big blade for many years to come. At the same time, a good crankset creates a better power transfer - between your legs and the pedals.
